SALT(ED) — a panel discussion
semantic theory & language revitalization
Presentation slides available on the main program page

As part of SALT33, the SALT Equity and Diversity Committee (SALTED), and the SALT33 organizing committee will hold a workshop: Semantic Theory and Language Revitalization, with particular focus on indigenous languages of the Americas.

We draw on scholars from both domains to address questions like the following:
  • does linguistic theory—and semantic theory in particular—help in the goals of those working actively in the maintainance/revitalization of indigenous languages?
  • in what form should results from theoretical work on formal semantics be presented to be most useful in these efforts?
  • what are the challenges and rewards of working on the semantics of indigenous languages?

The goal is to bring formal semanticists and those involved with revitalization efforts in conversation with each other.

this workshop is part of the ongoing initiative of SALT(ED) — the salt equity & diversity committee. For more information visit its permanent website
